I checked this morning again, and I still didn't see the moon!
ReplyDeleteMaybe tomorrow we'll see the waning gibbous moon, Max!
Delete24 February, 2016, I couldn't see the moon tonight. I really wanted to see the waning gibbous.
ReplyDeleteAlthough no one could see the waning gibbous moon tonight because of the weather, remember to always look after the moon has begun to rise (optimal viewing time); you looked for it before it even began to rise!!
DeleteSeriously, the moon was not visible today either
ReplyDeleteRemember to look for the moon after its rising time!
DeleteI looked again at 8:30 and I still couldn't see anything (the stars or the moon). Only clouds and that purple stuff again.
DeleteYou really tried, Erik! No one is going to see the moon or stars with this weather system!
DeleteBut i'll try again later(February,24,6:35).
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that the rain will clear up this next hour or two so we can see the waning gibbous tonight. Did you know the rise and fall of the tide waters on the Earth is caused by the Moon? There are two bulges in the Earth due to gravitational pull from the Moon, the bulges affect the oceans as the Earth rotates, causing high and low tides around the globe.
ReplyDeleteAnd also did you know you would weigh a lot less on the Moon? The Moon has weaker gravity than Earth due to its smaller mass so you would only weigh 1/6 (16.5%) of what you weigh here if you went to the Moon. This is why lunar explorers can leap and bound on the moon. I would love to try that.
The moon's force is so powerful!
DeleteHow fun would it be to leap and bound like you would on the moon, Erik!?
In my opinion it would also be horrifying to leap and bound on the Moon because if we were to leap or bound on the Moon, we might die within minutes of suffocation or hurt our heads or legs when we jumped. It must be as hard as learning to walk as a toddler.
DeleteThank goodness I don't have plans to go to the moon anytime soon!
DeleteToday it is unfortunately raining like yesterday.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the weather system is gone tomorrow so that we can see the waning gibbous moon!!
DeleteI really want that the weather to go away tomorrow too. I love looking at the skies, they're so beautiful(only when the weather is not blocking)
Delete24 7:48 Again you could not see the moon because of the clouds. It was raining outside.I really want to see the waning gibbous. When will it ever stop raining so we could see the moon.I looked outside I could not see the moon.I really want to see if the waning gibbous will look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteToo bad that we can't control the weather, Alex!!
Deleteright now it is 7:50pm 2/24/16 and I have a fact it is that it is that it does not take the earth 365 days to orbit around the sun it takes the moon 365 days and 6 hours to orbit around the sun and that is why we have leap years. This is because 6 X 4 = 24 and 24 hours is one day so that adds up to one more day of the year. I learned thus in the TFK in "It Is a Leap Year!"
ReplyDeleteSo interesting, Emma!
Delete2-24-16 8:00 pm Tonight we couldn't see the moon, no constellations either fingers crossed tomorrow will be better!
ReplyDeleteFebruary 24 8:13
DeleteI agree Jordan. I feel and see the same things in the sky
Let's hope that tomorrow we can see the moon
DeleteIt just may clear up enough to see the waning gibbous moon tomorrow!!
DeleteI really want to see the waning gibbous
DeleteThe weather is supposed to clear up within the next 24-48 hours!
DeleteHow do you know that!
DeleteI checked the weather forecast!
DeleteOn February 24th at 7:58pm the moon was hidden behind the clouds because it was pouring outside. The sky was dark and everything was hidden behind the clouds. Tonight you can't see the constellations in the sky . I wonder where you can see the moon and constellations in the sky. I know that the moon and the constellations are there in the sky. I hope to see them tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteOn February 24 8:10pm I could see no constellations or moon. I hope the rain will clear up for tomorrow night. It is so dark in the sky because there is no moon that we can see.
DeleteMe, too, Dani! The weather app on my phone indicates that the skies should be all clear by Friday! I sure hope so!
DeleteThat is a intersting fact
DeleteMe too.
DeleteIt's very exciting how we get to know the exact time the moon rises thanks to technology and science. I hope you are able to see the moon today or the next days .
DeleteOn Feb 24 at 8:00PM, I went to see the moon. Unfortunately, I did not see the moon or any stars. Tonight the moon should be in a Waning Gibbous phase. Interesting fact: The gravitational pull of the Moon causes two high tides on the Earth every day – one every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
ReplyDeleteThe moon is such an unbelievable force! Many people don't know that the moon causes the tides; thanks for sharing that research fact!
Delete8:21 I could still not see the moon or the stars because of the windy and rainy conditions. That is why I could not find any constellations like Orion.
ReplyDeleteThe weather should clear up soon!
DeleteFebruary 24 8:27
ReplyDeleteInteresting fact : the moon was formed 4.6 billion years ago. In never knew that fact
That is sure a very long time ago!
DeleteTonight, February, 24 at 8:27 pm, the moon's phase was waning gibbous. But, unfortunately, it was too cloudy outside to see it. I hope tomorrow we will be able to see the moon. Also, I cannot see any constellations because of the same problem.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a bummer that the weather isn't cooperating!
DeleteYes Emily I hope tommorow nights moon will be visible. Maybe this will be going on for a while; hope not.

ReplyDeleteFebruary 24 No moon again!! The moon is going to make a drastic change. Because we missed 2 waning gibbous phases. I hope tomorrow we can see the moon.
Me, too, Ben! The moon will really look different when we finally get to see it!
DeleteI could not sed the waning gibbous tonight this was because of the cloudy weather and rain there were no stars in the sky tonight nor constellations thanks to the rainy and cloudy weather conditions.
ReplyDeleteWe will be able to see the beautiful moon and stars once the weather clears up!
DeleteBen said... February 24, 2016 at 8:39 PM
ReplyDeleteNO stars tonight.
Unfortunately just rain!
ReplyDeletehi am i late in the conversation
ReplyDeleteWhat did you notice?
Delete*Remember to watch you capitalization and punctuation!
also i saw that the moon is bright and white it almost looked as white as powder but how does it look white if it really is black in space well a little bright in space if it is black in space how does it show up white is it because the sun and earth reflect light on to the moon also i could not see any stars is that rare or is it because i'm not seeing correctly!??
ReplyDeleteCarlie, the weather is not letting anyone see the moon tonight! Please proofread your work before publishing it.
DeleteI really wonder why I couldn't see the moon tonight again!
ReplyDeleteThe weather is not permitting us to see the moon; the clouds and rain are unfortunately blocking our view.
DeleteKevin, I think that you weren't able to see the moon last night again because It rained so the clouds were still blocking the moon.
DeleteI can't see the moon tonight! This is because yesterday and today it rained so the clouds are still making the moon invisible!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the storm moves out, we should be able to finally see the moon and spot some observations!
DeleteI went out to look for the moon at 8:45 pm today, but didn't have any luck today as well. The moon's phase today is a waning gibbous. I can't wait to see a couple of constellations over the next few days.
ReplyDeleteI read that the moon is moving away from the earth almost 4 cm a year - I wonder what impact that would have on the earth after millions of year?
Fun fact: The moon rotates at ten miles per hour compared to the Earth's rotations of 1000 miles per hour.
Wow; I didn't know that the moon is moving away from earth each year.
DeleteCan you believe that while the earth rotates at 1,000 miles per hour, we don't feel that speed!?
Yes, can you imagine going on a roller coaster at a 1,000 miles per hour. Haha :)
Delete25 6:25 I looked outside this morning and I saw the moon.I finally saw the waning gibbous. It was super pretty.you could not see the moon as a full moon.It was glowing a lot.

ReplyDeleteIt was really dark outside last night. I could not see a thing! No stars, I think.
