We may get a closer look at the moon!! Its kinda sad that we didn't get too see the moon in the past few nights, so... yeah, we will maybe see the moon AFTER moon rise, (8:29) or we will just see it in the upcoming night!

    5. Sarah, I think the moon appears red in a prefect lunar eclipse and dark during a solar eclipse. The moon appears red because the sunlight shining through the Earth's dusty atmosphere is bent toward the red part of the spectrum and cast onto the moon's surface. It's an amazing sight - I saw some of it a few months ago.

  6. Next time we see the moon it is going to be so small.

    1. That is right! It will be almost a quarter moon (a quarter moon's a half moon; a half moon's a quarter moon)!

  7. I observed the Moon at 8:45 pm on February 25. I still couldn't see the Moon or any stars but I noticed that the clouds were thinner. Maybe tomorrow the clouds will clear up completely. But I did see two bunnies on the lawn.

Did you know that the sky looks different depending on the season? It's because when the Earth spins we see different angles of the night sky and our galaxy. In the winter, we see some of the brightest stars and Orion and Canis major lies right in the middle of the winter sky. Orion is the brightest of all classical constellations (the ones we have known about for a long time).

  16. Did you know that. The moon as probably made 4.5billon years ago when a large object that hit the earth and blasted out rocks that came together to orbit round the earth. They eventually melted together cooled down and became the moon. For another 500 billon years pieces of rock against the surface of the moon.

  20. 2/25/16 9:32 Since it was cloudy, I couldn't see the waning gibbous moon. A waning gibbous moon is the moon that is more than a quarter moon ( A quarter moon is a half moon, a half moon is a quarter moon! ) and a little less than a full moon. I didn't spot any constellations either today because the stars were blocked by the clouds. The moon was also covered by the clouds! I also noticed that the only phase ( Face ) of the moon we saw so far was the full moon!

  21. I tried to look today at 8:50 pm, but could not see the moon or any stars because of the cloudy conditions. The moonset is at 8:29 am tomorrow morning and the clouds are expected to clear up by 7 am tomorrow morning, so I am hopeful to try and get a glimpse before school tomorrow.

The dark spots that we see on the moon that create the image of a man are actually craters. The moon's surface is heavily cratered. The Earth's atmosphere and water protective it from the craters.

  22. 2/25/16 9:54 I wonder if the weather is making it rain. That makes sense because it was a little bit cold today. Also, did you know that the side of the moon that is facing the sun can be 260 degrees fahrenheit, and the side that is not facing the sun can be -280 degrees fahrenheit? That is so crazy!

  24. I looked again in the morning at 8:25 am and I didn't see anything. This morning at 6 my dad saw the Moon but it must have been behind the trees when I looked. I was supposed to set at 8:29 am
