I can still not see the moon even though the weather conditions are not rainy and the sky is blue and clear. Maybe I could not see the moon because it is behind a cloud which is also white (P.S. it has been a long time not seeing the waning gibbous)
ReplyDeleteDid you see it late last night or this morning, Leo? The waning gibbous was beautiful!
Delete2/26/16 7:45 I think I saw a tiny speck of the moon today!
ReplyDeleteThat is great!
DeleteI di not post last night so I posted this morning I saw the moon tonight! it was a beautiful waning gibbous, it looked so much like a full moon but it was not.
ReplyDeleteRight now it is 7:53 26, I saw the moon very late at night. it looked so much like a full moon.
ReplyDeleteI agree; sometimes that is the case, but we know it is waning.
DeleteI might have saw a little of the moon but I couldn't really see the wanning giibous I could also see that the moon was going away and the sun is coming out.
ReplyDeleteKeep looking, Aviv. You will see it soon!
DeleteI just tried to post but not sure if it went through.
ReplyDeleteI tried to look at the moon outside my house this morning but could not spot it. So we drove to the Golden Horseshoe at 7:30 am. I couldn't spot the moon there either and just when we were about to leave, we drove around and to my surprise I saw the waxing gibbous moon behind Italian Village - yah! The moon was low next to the trees and the clouds would cover the moon on and off. It was beautiful. I could see 85-90% of the waxing gibbous moon. I took some pictures and will try to bring them to school.
I am so happy that you finally saw the waning gibbous. You sure were determined to find it. The Golden Horseshoe is an excellent place to view the sky!
DeleteI do not see any moon here at 8:03 am today. It is a lucky day if we can finally see the waning gibbous.
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. Conklin sorry I have not been posting its only because I did not charge my laptop! I did not see the moon last night and I do not see it this morning either! I now just now that the moon will be there tonight oh! I found some research here it is, The leading theory of how the moon formed holds that it was created when a mysterious planet — one the size of Mars or larger — slammed into Earth about 4.56 billion years ago, just after the solar system came together
ReplyDeleteThe moon has been around for a very long time!
DeleteStill no moon at 8:16 am
ReplyDeleteAll of the nights all the other students were posting I always looked for the north star but, I never found! It maybe tonight!
ReplyDeleteThe North Star is so hard to spot when the skies aren't clear; no wonder it was difficult to spot.
DeleteSadly I didn't see the moon today. But I found Orion the hunter,Toros the bull and The sisters!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that you found the constellations: Orion the Hunter, Taurus the Bull, and the Seven Sisters! You most likely will see them tonight.
DeleteFebruary 25 10:25pm
ReplyDeleteI could see the waning gibbous tonight but no stars and constellations.
Finally the weather cooperated, Lilly!
DeleteOn Feb 26th at 10:18PM, I finally saw a BRIGHT Waning Gibbous moon! The sky was clear, so I saw lots and lots of constellations. I saw Orion's Belt, Serious the Dog Star, Cassiopeia, and even the North Star!
ReplyDeleteIsn't the night sky full of so much excitement, Sarina?
DeleteI could see that the waning gibbous is cut off on it's left side. The moon looked a lot like a full moon but it was not a full moon it was a waning gibbous.(P.S. The waning gibbous is (FINALLY!!) here!
ReplyDeleteWasn't it so thrilling to finally see the moon? Did you spot any constellations?
DeleteGuess what, I saw the Big Dipper and Ursa major yesterday night (Friday) at 11 pm. When I looked from the window it was over Heathcote School. I also saw the waning gibbous Moon. You could see 82% of the Moon. It was a clear night
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous. The waning gibbous finally revealed herself! Since you saw the Big Dipper and Ursa Major, were you also able to spot Polaris?
DeleteNo, not really because there were lots of stars that looked like the Polaris you described on Friday. But I will look tonight. It is 6:00 pm now so in two or three hours.
DeleteAwesome! I saw the moon!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you!
DeleteFebruary 27, 2016 10:45pm
ReplyDeleteI could not see the moon from the window of my room. No constellations either.
Did you know that our moon is the 5th largest moon in the solar system. I found that fact at Fun Moon Facts For Kids
I never knew that our moon is the 5th largest in the solar system, Lilly!
DeleteFebruary 28 4:25pm
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I couldn't see the moon last night.
