Please make sure to fully develop your post by including the following:
The date
The time
The condition of the sky
The phase of the moon
Any other interesting noticings, wonderings or information you have to share
Today is November 10 and it is 8:06 pm. The phase of the moon is a Waning Gibbous. I could not see Orion today. I wonder why? I think it is because it is cloudy outside. Did you know the moon orbits around the Earth?
November 10th, 2014 at 8:44 PM. It is a waning gibbous moon tonight. I was able to see the moon through the trees, so I only saw part of it! From what I could see, it looked very big and bright!
Today is November 10th at 8:45pm. I saw the moon and it was shining really bright. The waning gibbous moon was also super visible. Did you know that the moon is very hot in daytime and very cold in night time?
9:07 pm I can barely see the moon behind the trees. The moon looks like soon the waning gibbous stage will be done. The pattern is still going. It's weird how the moon looks flat from the earth.
It is November 10 at 9:30 P.M. I saw the moon as a waning gibbous. There were clouds around the moon. It so bright that it seemed like it was going to pop out at me. The clouds were light clouds instead of dark clouds. I tired to look for orion's belt but I couldn't see it.
What a fantastic observation, Avani; I saw the same exact thing. I did find Orion, but he was very, very faint and hard to see. Maybe you will see him tomorrow night!
It is November 11 at 6:53. I saw the moon on the other side of the house this morning. The moon was still a waning gibbous. The moon travels around the Earth so it sets on the other side of the Earth. Did you know that the moon stays the same when it rotates the Earth?!
I just read that this morning on the constellation app (Sky Guide) I suggested to the class! Did you know the reason is because "the earth also exerts tidal forces on the moon and over many millions of years, these tidal forces have gradually slowed down the moon's spin, locking one side to always face the earth."!! Wow, I can't believe we were both thinking about the same thing this morning; we were on the same "wave-length"!!!!
Today is November 10th. I am going to try to look for constellations. I cant wait to see the moon.
ReplyDeleteDid you find Orion in the sky? I had to look hard, but I found him!
DeleteToday is November 10, 2014 8:40 a.m. I saw the moon on my way to school. The sky was clear. The moon really doesn't look so full anymore.
ReplyDeleteNo, it doesn't! It is definitely a waning gibbous moon and soon to be a quarter (half) moon!

ReplyDeleteI did not know that fact about the moon's temperature, Jasper; where did you find that out?
DeleteI found on www.space.com. I was trying to search if the moon was cold.
DeleteThat is so interesting, Jasper! I never knew that about the moon. Thanks for researching and sharing!

It sure is weird that the moon looks flat from the earth when it's really a sphere!
